Exactly where the lines are

We know “coaching” can sound vague to attorneys, especially around scope of practice and liability. Here’s exactly where the lines are drawn.

Scope & Unauthorized Practice of Law

Is this the unauthorized practice of law?

No. Pathfinder coaches do not give legal advice, do not interpret statutes or case law, do not draft legal documents, and do not represent clients in any capacity. Coaches help clients organize documentation, prepare questions for their attorney, manage communication and emotional regulation, and understand the general shape of the process — all clearly framed as non-legal support. Every coach is trained on this boundary, and program materials reinforce it to clients directly.  Our goal is to build trust between you and your client.

No. That stays entirely with you and your firm. Coaches actively redirect any legal-strategy question back to “ask your attorney.” Part of our mission is to build trust between the client and attorney.
Coaches are trained to decline and redirect: “That’s a great question for your attorney — let’s make sure it’s on your list for your next meeting.” Pathfinder’s workbook literally includes a running “questions for my attorney” log to formalize this.

Confidentiality & Risk

Is coaching confidential?

Yes. Sessions are confidential between the client and their coach/coaching group. Coaches have no access to case file information and will not request it. All clients sign a confidentiality agreement to participate in group coaching. Clients may use fake names/initials and participate without being on camera.

No. Clients may stay off camera and use fake names or initials if it is more comfortable for them.
No. No AI notetakers or recordings are allowed in group or private sessions, and no notes are kept. We do not retain client personal information beyond email and phone.
Insight Divorce Solutions operates under a clear scope-of-practice agreement. We recommend firms review our standard referral/service agreement with their own malpractice carrier before enrolling their first client — we’re glad to provide that documentation directly.

Program Logistics

Does this cost my firm anything beyond the subscription?
No. The subscription covers unlimited client enrollment at your tier. There’s no per-client fee, and no cost is ever passed to your clients.
Enrollment happens through a simple referral pathway set up during onboarding.
Yes. Participation is voluntary, and clients can pause or stop at any point without affecting their case.
We confidentially place spouses in separate coaching groups every time. This is built into intake and never left to chance.
